Our weekend was eventful but fun. On Friday we took our 3 year old stud colt, Jack (His registered name is Honey Jack Leo), to a friend who has registered quarter horse mares. She lives about 4 hours away so we decided to make it an over night trip.
Hopefully we will get some nice colts to train as sorting horses.
We camped out at one of our favorite places to trail ride. It’s called Bar-K Wrangler camp in the Mark Twain National Forrest. We go there as often as we can get away.
On Saturday we went to a ranch sorting event in the area. We had Kat with us (CK Sky High Cat). He is our coming 6 year old and he loves to sort! Ranch sorting is an upcoming equestrian sport that involves separating cattle into pens. (As soon as I figure out how to post video, I will post one of a sorting event.) Anyhow, Kat placed 4th in this event and earned a small purse.
It’s always so nice to get away, even if it’s just for a night or two. I cant’ wait for the next trip the end of April.
In the mean time it’s time to get back to those spring time tasks!
