Tuesday Tour: A Look Back

 2014

What a year it has been!  As I look back I can’t believe it’s over already!

In January I left my job of 8 years in a dental office to work full-time at the ranch.  (Read about that here.)  It was a great decision and I have loved (almost) every minute of it!  🙂

I’ve learned a lot this year.  One thing is just how much Jonesy did while I was working.  Seriously, I don’t know how he did it all.  Being able to lift some of the burden has been very rewarding.

I’ve learned to pay more attention to my surroundings.  Writing a blog makes you really see everyday things differently.  This has caused me to have a whole new appreciation for the beauty of this world as a whole, my world in particular. I wrote about this in these posts:

Everyday Wonders and The Music of CBR

During the spring and early summer I was able to spend more time in the garden and I discovered muscles and joints I forgot I had.  But all the gardening and canning has really been a blessing this winter.  There is nothing like opening a can of veggies or fruit from the abundance of last summer’s garden.

When hay season rolled around I learned to mow and square bale hay.  I did more baling than mowing, as a matter of fact, I baled over 6,000 square bales.  I also figured out that there are just certain things that happen only during hay season!

The last few months of the year have been much slower paced but there are still things to be learned.  In the upcoming year I want to find out more about advocating for agriculture and passing on accurate information.  I want to take steps to raise more of our own food.  I want to be the best grandma I can be! ( If you follow our Facebook page then you know we are going to be first time grandparents in August),Baby J announcementLittle did I know when I wrote my last post that Someday would come sooner than I thought!

I hope the new year brings you peace and joy!

Be blessed!
